In a nutshell

What are drinking games?

Drinking games are group games where whoever loses, slips up or confesses something takes a sip. They liven up a pregame, a dinner or a house party: the point isn't drinking, it's laughing and getting to know each other better.

Here you play them online on your phone, free and with nothing to download: 20 games with 3,637 questions, dares and cards, and every sip can be swapped for water or a soda.

The right game for your plans

A dinner for two is not a pregame with twelve friends. Here's what we'd pick for each situation.

Drinking games online, free and with nothing to download

Classic drinking games need cards, dice, paper and someone who actually knows the rules. Here all you need is a phone: the screen hands out the turns, draws the cards, counts the votes and explains each rule right when you need it. No app to install and no account to create: open the site, add the names and the game starts.

There are two ways to play. With one phone passed around the group, which is the easiest at a table, or everyone on their own phone by creating a room: that way votes and roles are truly secret, and you can also play over a video call when everyone's at home.

Call them drinking games, party games or pregame games: the idea is the same. A dare, a question or a card, and whoever loses takes a sip. And here, that sip can always be water.

Question drinking games

They're the most popular and they work from minute one. In Never Have I Ever (509 statements) anyone who has done what the card says takes a sip, and the group decides whether they want the story. Truth or Dare (453 truths and dares) adds a dare for whoever won't answer, and in Who's Most Likely To (269 questions) everyone points at once at whoever fits the question best.

For impossible dilemmas there's Would You Rather, where the minority drinks. For a date or a group that just met, try the get to know you questions (252 questions), from the basics to the spicy ones. And to find out who's the best liar, there's Two Truths and a Lie. They all have three levels: Mild, Party and Spicy (18+).

Card and dice drinking games, no cards or dice needed

The classics are here too, without hunting for a deck. In Kings Cup, also called Ring of Fire or just Kings, every card has a rule and whoever draws the fourth king gets the cup in the middle. Three Man is played with two dice and a Three Man who drinks every time a 3 comes up, and the Pyramid Drinking Game mixes memory and bluffing.

Want something even faster? Dare Dice has a type of dare on each side (270 dares in total), the Drinking Card Game puts a rule on every card and Drinking Dice lets a die decide who drinks: you, the people next to you or everyone.

Speed, team and deduction games

To pick up the pace, Word Bomb is hard to beat: a category, a secret timer and the phone flying from hand to hand. The 21 Drinking Game is even simpler: take turns counting and don't be the one who says 21.

If your group likes to think, the Imposter Game (355 secret words) can go on for a while: everyone knows the word except one person, who has to fake it. In Forbidden Words and Charades you play in teams, describing words or acting them out, and the Dare Wheel turns every spin into a mini scene for the whole group.

Drinking games for every occasion

At a pregame, short games you can stop halfway work best; at a birthday or a bachelor or bachelorette party, go for big-group games where everyone plays at once; and on New Year's Eve or a game night, voting and question games keep the conversation going.

On a road trip or a chill evening, question games work just as well with no alcohol: whoever loses picks the next song or does a dare. The driver doesn't play or look at the phone.

Play it smart

Every game is for adults 18+ and of legal drinking age where you live (21 in the US), and none of them makes you drink alcohol. Every sip can be swapped for water, a soda or a dare, and anyone can pass without explaining why. What matters is that everyone has a good time. You'll find more tips on our responsible drinking page.

Who's behind this

Made by someone who actually plays

This site was born out of necessity: long road trips and pregames with friends that always ended the same way, with no deck of cards, arguing about the rules or hunting for questions between ads. So I built it: every game in one place, free, no sign-up and made to actually play at the table.

Frequently asked questions about drinking games online

Everything you need to start a game in under a minute.

01What are the best drinking games?

The most played are Never Have I Ever, Truth or Dare, Would You Rather and Kings Cup. For big groups, the Imposter Game and Charades are great; for two people, try the get to know you questions.

02Do I need to download anything to play?

No. The games run right in your phone's browser, on iPhone and Android. If you want, you can add the site to your home screen to open it like an app.

03Are these online drinking games free?

Yes, every game is free and there's no sign-up.

04How many people can play?

From 2 to 12. Every game works with two except the Imposter Game, which needs at least three. In a few, the rule changes a little with two: in Would You Rather you bet on what the other person will pick, and Forbidden Words and Charades are played as one team against the clock.

05What are good drinking games for 2 people?

Question games: Get to Know You Questions, Truth or Dare, Never Have I Ever and Dare Dice. They all have a Spicy level for couples.

06Are there drinking games without cards or anything?

Yes, all of them. Your phone is the deck, the dice and the wheel, so Kings Cup or Three Man can be played without real cards or dice.

07Are there spicy drinking games?

Yes, for adults 18+ and close groups: Juicy Never Have I Ever, Dirty Truth or Dare and Dirty Most Likely To. They're bold, but never explicit.

08Can we each play on our own phone?

Yes. Create a room, share the QR code or the link and everyone joins from their phone with their name. In the Imposter Game everyone sees their role in secret, in Who's Most Likely To and Would You Rather the votes are secret, and in Never Have I Ever everyone answers from their own screen.

09Can we play drinking games online over a video call?

Yes. With a room, everyone plays from their own phone even if they're at a different home: open the video call on another device and the game moves forward for everyone at the same time.

10Can we play without alcohol?

Yes. Whenever a game says “take a sip,” you can swap it for water, a soda or a dare. The games work exactly the same.

11Which game is best to start with?

Dare Dice or Who's Most Likely To: they explain themselves and everyone plays from the very first turn. After that you can move on to the Imposter Game or Kings Cup.

12Are the players' names saved?

Yes, only on your phone. Next time you open a game, the names will still be there. On one phone they're never sent to a server; in a room, the server only gets the name each person joins with, while the game lasts.
