Dare Wheel: spin the wheel and do the dare

This dare wheel is a group game: everyone spins on their turn and does the dare from the slot it lands on. There are 8 slots (duels, confessions, charades, rules…) and 288 dares across three levels, from Mild to Spicy 18+. It's free, there's nothing to download and every sip can be water.

Rules

How to play the dare wheel

One spin, one slot, one dare. Here are the full rules, exactly how they work in the game.

  1. 1Add the players

Type the names, 2 to 12 people, in the order you're sitting: turns follow the list.

  2. 2Pick the level

Before you start, choose one or more levels: Mild, Party or Spicy 18+. If you pick more than one, each dare comes from one of the levels you chose.

  3. 3Spin the wheel on your turn

The top of the screen shows whose turn it is. Spin the wheel: it goes around a few times, stops on a slot and a card with the dare pops up.

  4. 4The 8 slots

Each slot is a type of dare with its own deck: Dare: a dare for whoever spun; Duel: you vs. someone in the group; Everyone: a dare the whole group plays; Confess: a question you have to answer; Act it out: do an impression, a scene or a charade; Point: pick someone in the group; Shot: someone takes a small sip (or water); Rule: a rule until your next turn.

  5. 5No back-to-back repeats

The wheel never lands on the same slot as the spin before, and the game avoids dares that came up recently.

  6. 6Do the dare and tap “Done”

Do what the card says in front of everyone and tap “Done”: the turn goes to the next person on the list.

  7. 7Not feeling it? Pass

Tap “Pass · a sip or water”: take a small sip or drink some water and the game moves on. Nobody has to do a dare or drink.

  8. 8The Rule stays on screen

If you land on Rule, it stays visible at the top of the screen until your next turn, so nobody can say they forgot.

  9. 9In a room and at the end

If everyone plays on their own phone in a room, you all see the same spin at the same time. Tap “Exit” to see the game summary.

Spin the wheel dares

All 288 dares on the wheel, 96 per level and 12 per slot, in the same order as the wheel: Dare, Duel, Everyone, Confess, Act it out, Point, Shot, and Rule. You can also use them to draw your own wheel on paper and spin a pen in the middle.

Rather pick truth or dare yourself?

Truth or Dare

If you'd rather choose between confessing and doing a dare, go for the classic: you pick truth or dare, with three levels and the right to pass.

Play Truth or Dare →

What is a dare wheel, and how does ours work?

A dare wheel is a wheel split into slots: someone spins it, it stops on one and you do whatever it says. It's the same luck as spinning a bottle or rolling a die, but with the suspense of watching it slow down slot by slot while the whole group watches.

Ours has 8 slots (Dare, Duel, Everyone, Confess, Act it out, Point, Shot, and Rule) and each one has its own deck of dares. Sometimes it's just you, sometimes you go up against someone, point at someone else or the whole group plays, so nobody spends the game just watching.

There are 288 dares spread across three levels (Mild, Party and Spicy 18+) and you can mix whichever you like. You play with a single phone passed from hand to hand, 2 to 12 people, or everyone on their own.

A truth or dare wheel, too

Looking for a truth or dare wheel? The Confess slot is your “truth”: when the wheel stops there, you answer the question out loud. The other slots are dares, so every spin is a little truth-or-dare round decided by luck instead of by you.

If your group would rather choose between truth and dare every time, play Truth or Dare; if you're after questions just for talking, try Get to Know You Questions. And if you're far apart, create a room: the wheel spins on every screen at once, video calls included.

Playing it as a drinking game (the smart way)

The Shot slot turns the wheel into a party drinking game, but with a small sip instead of a full shot: games last longer, nobody is out by the second round and the fun is in the dares, not the drinking.

Keep water on the table from the start and let everyone decide what's in their glass: a sip of water or soda counts just as much as a sip of alcohol. No stacking penalties and no pushing anyone who says no. And whoever's driving sticks to water all night.

Ideas: spin the wheel dares for friends, and extreme dares minus the danger

Spin the wheel dares for friends: with a group that knows each other well, mix Party and Spicy and let the group judge the duels. House rules work too: the winner of a duel picks who spins next, or the Rule has to be announced in a game-show host voice.

Extreme dares, minus the danger: “extreme” here means more embarrassing, not more risky. Imitating someone at the table, singing a chorus or putting up with an absurd rule works great; nothing involving heights, fire, weird food, driving or contact the other person doesn't want.

Which level to pick: Mild, Party or Spicy 18+

Start with Mild even if the group knows each other: quick duels and charades warm everyone up in two rounds. Once people loosen up, add Party, and save Spicy for close friends or couples: it's about dates and flirting, never explicit, and dares with contact are always “only if they're up for it”.

To keep the pace up, count the seconds out loud in duels, let the group decide winners fast and pass the phone right away. When a slot lets you pick someone, pick a different person each time.

When to play: pregames, bachelor and bachelorette parties, birthdays

The wheel shines at the pregame, while people are still showing up: it explains itself, each spin takes a minute and anyone who arrives late jumps in on the next turn. It also works great at bachelor and bachelorette parties and birthdays, because the whole-group slots bring together people who don't know each other.

If you love leaving it to luck, switch things up with Dare Dice, Drinking Dice or Spin the Bottle and let chance pick whose turn it is.

Dare Wheel FAQ

01What is a dare wheel?

It's a wheel split into slots that you spin in turns: wherever it stops, you do the dare. This one is online and free: it runs in your phone's browser, with no download and no sign-up.

02How do you play the dare wheel?

Add the names, pick the level and each player spins the wheel on their turn. A card comes up with a dare from the slot it lands on: do it and tap “Done”, or pass with a sip or water.

03How many players do you need?

2 to 12, in the order you're sitting. With two, the duels are against each other and the wheel skips the dares that need more people. With four or more, the duels and whole-group dares get even better.

04What slots are on the wheel?

There are 8: Dare: a dare for whoever spun; Duel: you vs. someone in the group; Everyone: a dare the whole group plays; Confess: a question you have to answer; Act it out: do an impression, a scene or a charade; Point: pick someone in the group; Shot: someone takes a small sip (or water); Rule: a rule until your next turn.

05How many dares are there?

288 in total: 96 per level (Mild, Party and Spicy 18+) and 12 per slot in each level. The game avoids repeating the ones that came up recently.

06Can I use it as a truth or dare wheel?

Yes: the Confess slot is the “truth” and the rest are dares. If you'd rather pick truth or dare yourself every turn, play Truth or Dare.

07Are there spicy or extreme dares?

The Spicy level has 96 dares about dates, crushes and flirting, for adults 18+ only and never explicit; dares with contact are always “only if they're up for it”. Extreme or dangerous ones: none. They're embarrassing, not risky.

08Is it a drinking game?

It can be: the Shot slot sends a small sip (or water) to whoever matches the card. Never a full shot, and nobody has to drink. Every sip can be swapped for water or soda; the site is for adults 18+ only.

09Can you play long-distance?

Yes. Create a room, share the link or the QR code and everyone sees the same spin on their own screen, at the same table or over a video call.

10Do slots repeat?

The same slot never comes up twice in a row: the game skips the one from the last spin. It can come back later, with a different dare.

11What if I don't want to do a dare?

Tap “Pass · a sip or water” and the game moves on. Nobody has to do anything they don't want to.

12How is it different from Truth or Dare or Dare Dice?

In Truth or Dare you choose between confessing and doing a dare, and Dare Dice has six sides. The wheel has 8 slots, including Shot and Rule, which stays on screen until your next turn.
