Dare Dice: roll online and do the dare

Roll the die and do whatever it lands on: each side is a type of dare (story time, point, act it out, everyone, confess and you're the boss) and there are 270 dice dares across three levels. Add your names and start rolling; below you'll find every dare, so you can play with a real die too.

How to play Dare Dice

One die, six kinds of dares and zero setup. It's the perfect game to kick off a pregame: nobody has to come up with anything, the die decides and the whole group laughs.

  1. 1Set up the game

Add the names (2 to 12 players) and pick the level: Mild, Party or Spicy 18+. If you pick more than one, each roll randomly chooses which level the dare comes from.

  2. 2Roll the die

On your turn, tap the die or the Roll the die button. It tumbles for a second and lands on a side from 1 to 6.

  3. 3Each side is a type of dare

1, Story time (tell a story or something that happened to you); 2, Point (pick someone in the group); 3, Act it out (do an impression, a scene or a charade); 4, Everyone (a dare the whole group plays); 5, Confess (a quick question you have to answer); 6, You're the boss (make a rule, hand out sips or pick someone). The card with the actual dare shows up under the die.

  4. 4Do the dare

Do it in front of everyone and tap Done: the turn passes to the next person. The group decides whether the dare counts or you have to try again.

  5. 5Not feeling it? Pass

If you don't want to do the dare, tap Pass · a sip or water, take a sip (or water) and the turn moves on anyway. Nobody has to do anything.

  6. 6Duels and rules that stick

In duels and whole-group dares, whoever loses or messes up takes a sip (or water). Rules from You're the boss last until your next turn, and wild cards are saved for whenever you want: the phone doesn't track them, the group remembers.

  7. 7How long you play

There's no set ending: every roll brings a new card and the game avoids repeating dares that just came up. Play as long as you like or agree on a number of rounds first.

Dice dares to play

All 270 dares in the game, by level. Within each level they're sorted by side: Story time, Point, Act it out, Everyone, Confess and You're the boss. Got a real die? Roll it and pick a dare from the side that comes up.

What is Dare Dice?

Dare Dice is a group game where luck decides what you get: you roll a die and each side is a type of dare. Sometimes you tell a story, sometimes you pick someone for a duel, act something out or set a rule for the whole group.

Since you don't get to choose, nobody sneaks off with the easy option and rounds move fast. And because some sides get everyone playing, nobody's just staring at their phone waiting for their turn.

Dice truth or dare: how it compares

If you're looking for dice truth or dare, this is pretty close: the Confess side is a quick question you have to answer honestly (the “truth”), and the other five are dares. The difference is that the die picks for you, so you never know which one is coming.

If you'd rather pick truth or dare yourself every turn, play the classic Truth or Dare. And if you want luck to choose who goes, try Spin the Bottle.

Tips to make the dice dares work

Start on Mild even if the group knows each other well: the charades and story dares warm everyone up in two rounds. Once people loosen up, mix Mild and Party, and save Spicy for close friends or couples.

The group is the judge: if a dare falls flat, it gets redone. And one rule that never fails: anyone can pass with a sip (or water), no explanation needed. A dare is only fun if the person doing it is laughing too.

Variations: teams, no alcohol and long-distance play

Teams: one player from each team rolls in turn and the team decides who does the dare; if they pass, the whole team takes a sip (or water). No alcohol: every dare done is worth a point and every pass loses one; whoever has the most points at the end wins.

Everyone on their own phone: create a room and you'll all see the die and the dare on your own screen, and whoever's turn it is rolls from theirs. It works in the same room and on a video call too.

When to play Dare Dice

It's ideal for kicking off a pregame, for birthdays and bachelor or bachelorette parties, or for a group where not everyone knows each other: there's nothing to explain and more than one person gets involved on most rolls.

If you like the format, try Truth or Dare, Spin the Bottle to let luck pick who's up, or Never Have I Ever to move on to confessions.

On your turn you roll the die and do the dare on the card that comes up. If you don't want to do it, take a sip (or water) and the turn passes to the next person.

02What does each side of the die mean?

Each side is a type of dare: 1, Story time (tell a story or something that happened to you); 2, Point (pick someone in the group); 3, Act it out (do an impression, a scene or a charade); 4, Everyone (a dare the whole group plays); 5, Confess (a quick question you have to answer); 6, You're the boss (make a rule, hand out sips or pick someone).

03How many players do you need?

From 2 people. The duels and whole-group dares are most fun with four to ten players; the site supports up to 12.

04Are there spicy dares?

Yes: the Spicy level has 90 dares about dates, crushes and chemistry, for adults only and never explicit. Dares involving touch are always “if they're up for it.”

05What if I don't want to do a dare?

You pass: a sip (or water) and the game moves on. Nobody has to do anything they don't want to.

06Can you play without alcohol?

Yes. Every sip can be swapped for water or soda, or you can play for points: a dare done adds one, a dare passed takes one away.

07Can you play long-distance?

Yes. Create a room and share the link: the die and the dares show up on everyone's phone at the same time, on a video call too.

08How is it different from Truth or Dare?

In Truth or Dare you choose between confessing and doing a dare; here the die decides, and there are also duels, whole-group dares and rules that last until your next turn.

09Is it free?

Yes. It runs in your phone's browser, with no download and no sign-up.
